Axel Positioning Gears

Gears are classified into several categories on the basis of their applications, properties, material used and the position of axes. These gears are arranged at different angles and positions with respect to the axis so as to meet the specific requirements of the clients. Based on their positioning, these gears are categorized into the following:

Parallel Shaft Gears
Parallel Shaft Gears
Parallel shaft gears are used for transmission of rotatory motion between the parallel shafts. The different gears that are used in this arrangement are spur gears, helical gears, and herringbone gears. These type of gears are engaged in the same plane. Parallel Shaft Gears are designed to provide maximum transmission of power and high efficiency. These gears have high load capacity and quiet operation. The parallel shaft gears are generally used in clocks, movie projector, car steering and more.

Intersecting Shaft Gears
Intersecting Shaft Gears
Intersecting Shaft Gears are specifically designed for smooth transmission of power and motion between angular intersecting shafts. The gears that have intersecting shafts include bevel gears, straight bevel gears, zero bevel gears and spiral gears. These gears are most suitable for application where both speed and strength are required like hand drills, locomotives, automobiles, marine applications and in different rotor craft drive systems.

Neither Parallel Nor Intersecting
Neither Parallel Nor Intersecting
These gears are ideal for power transmission applications that require a high-ratio speed reduction in limited space. The gears that have non intersecting shafts are hypoid gears, crossed helical gears and worm gears. The non intersecting shaft is well suited for applications requiring limited load capacity like automobile differentials, electric mixer, speedometer, sprinkler, packaging machinery and more. The non intersecting gears are least expensive of all the gears.
